WE PLAY FOR KYRENIA - Kyrenia.Original

The amateur basketball team called by the name "Grothia Kyrenia" (herein "the Team") was formed in the summer of 2019 by three friends, over a cup of coffee. The Team was founded by Panos Marcoullis, Costas Englezos and Chris Ellinopoullos. Soon afterwards Carol Argyrou, Tassos Linaras and Andreas Karamanos added their names and efforts to the founders of the Team. During the original preparation effort from the Summer of 2019 until the Spring of 2020 (also referred to as "Grothia Version 1.0") the team was built around a large roster with Coach Costas Englezos as its focal point. The players, the vast majority of them new to the Nicosia Amateur Basketball Championship (aka "the Tournament") were recruited as part of a concerted effort to promote the idea of a free Kyrenia. And henceforth was born #WePlayForKyrenia.
